For Barack Obama suppoters, what makes Obama a better black to support than the previous black candidates?

!truth! asked:
in the past, namely Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? Where were you when the latter 2 made a run for nomination?

child, i voted for all of them.
Both Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are opportunistic showmen who capitalize on racial divisiveness and sentimentality to pay their bills. Both are essentially the face of the “black movement” who are always ready to cry racism when a black criminal gets punished for his crime or when some random talkshow host accidently says a racially insensitive remark one day. They are race-baiters and intolerant bigots who only appeal to the like.
Obama hasn’t made his career off the same type of garbage, which gives him more credibility as a serious candidate. Of course, that credibility is all but gone now, thanks to the company he’s kept.
Barack can raise a lot more money, you just have to know how to launder it.
How do you know the blacks didn’t support those other two? I think the people you need to be asking are the white males that support Obama.
i thought Ford was great. Obama, no way jose.
Neither of them have ever held a political office. And I was too young to vote for Jesse…which I wouldn’t have and I was hiding somewhere when Al ran.
Timing has a lot to do with history. It is time.
He is more moderate and not as polarizing as the others you have named.
He also has better credentials. He’s a senator. I don’t really know what positions Jackson and Sharpton hold. From what I know, they created organizations and put themselves in charge of them.
I can’t wait for more black candidates to revolutionize the GOP party, showing that the GOP is the party for ALL races… and no more non-loving, enabling the poor to maintain the perpetual cycle of welfare and racial preference (which causes blacks to be relegated to the lowest common denominator).
Michigan’s U.S. Senate candidate Keith Butler says a victory in November could spark a political revolution.
Ohio gubernatorial hopeful Ken Blackwell must win tough primaries.
In Maryland, U.S. Senate candidate Michael Steele faces an overwhelmingly Democratic electorate.
In Pennsylvania, former football star Lynn Swann must prove he is qualified to be governor despite no experience in public office.
Now, those candidates will be closely watched to see if any can defy what has long been a political reality: a Republican revolution.
Obama came across differently not to just Black people but to whites as well. Sharpton and Jackson had no chance of winning because they were viewed as the “BLACK” candidate whereas Obama was a candidate who happened to be Black. No that things are getting tight he is reminded that he better stay in his place. It’s unfortunate too, because this country legitmatelly had a chance to rise above the frey, but you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. It’s sad and embarassing because I really enjoy being in this country but this country will always, no matter what, view me as a N****. I don’t let that discourage me though. I continue to do what is right and what I should do.
because he is an “acceptable” black like that other pastor said not Wright but another black pastor that Obama is the Uncle Tom candidate, acceptable to whites but just black enough to be black, I wish I could think of his name, he’s about as bad as Wright!
I would suppose it’s because he wouldn’t have an agenda due to the slavery issue in this country having not descended from slaves.
Leave your response!
