Why did Barack Obama fail to respond to his being called and proved a liar in regards to debates and campaign ?

Paul Grass asked:

finances. He had put it in writing he would do the public funding, and he agreed to negotiate with McCain’s any Time any place debate Challenge and again backed down. By his failure to respond is he admitting to being a bold faced liar?

What good would if have done? Would you have changed your mind? Do any politicians admit their mistakes? This deal is done, get over it.

You can’t battle the truth…..Aryes, Raines, Rezko, Wright, ACORN, Farrakhan and more!

  • Louis S said:

He lied because that’s the way Obama does business. Bottom line: Obama (aka Barry Soetoro) cannot be trusted.

  • the_libertyman said:

So you wanted him to LIE about being a LIAR?

Of course he’s guilty… those are very clear and easily confirmed facts… much like MANY other things Obama has lied about.

  • You Are Dry Shaving Me said:

He also failed to respond why $823,000 went to ACORN.

  • engr-tech said:

Yes, and he also didn’t refute the fact that he gave $832,000 to ACORN.

    McCain/Palin ‘08

  • Alison said:

Absolutely. If you have ever lied what was the first thing you did? Put put your head down and say “uh”

For the same reason that McCain will not address the lie he told The Des Moines Register when John tried to claim that he is “100% truthful”…people don’t like to address their own dishonesty.

  • dlk said:

He could not answer that, it IS TRUE

    McCain’s a cry baby:

McCain: One of them happened just the other day, when a man I admire and respect — I’ve written about him — Congressman John Lewis, an American hero, made allegations that Sarah Palin and I were somehow associated with the worst chapter in American history, segregation, deaths of children in church bombings, George Wallace. That, to me, was so hurtful.
And, Senator Obama, you didn’t repudiate those remarks.
OBAMA: … And, now, I think the American people are less interested in our hurt feelings during the course of the campaign than addressing the issues that matter to them so deeply.

  • Bridey said:

He’s been side-stepping the entire campaign. He’s an expert at tap dancing, I’ll give him that. He’s better than Bill Clinton ever was at avoiding the issue.

  • A Maverick Like Everone Else said:

No one cares about this issue. That’s why.

  • blissdds said:

He won’t even admit that he was wrong about the surge even though he said it exceded everyone’s dreams.
I can’t wait to see the look on the middle classes faces when that $250K tax limit get s lowered to $70K. If you know he is a liar, why would you hand him your paycheck?

  • Genn Leigh said:

Because he knew he was in the wrong.
If you admit to being a liar in one thing…the country (including myself) will wonder “what else is he lying about.”

    MCCAIN-PAILN 2008!!!!

The bottom line is that Obama changed his campaign strategy. Once he figured out how much money he could raise he decided that would be the best route to go.

McCain’s a whiner on this issue and nobody wants a weak whiner as President.

    the truth would hurt him.

He knew he was busted, he got that der in the headlight look looked at the table and just started muttering crap to change the subject.

This is a election and Liar’s are in politics so deep that the term Lawyer has been equated to truth. The idea that a Dem will cut taxes is just as much a lie as we are going to drill off shore right now. 1. We wont be able to drill because congress is dem run and wont let a bill pass threw there door. 2. How do you cut taxes and spend more? Things do not add up on either side.

  • yackat said:

That’s pathetic. George W. Bush THE PRESIDENT severely restricted/restricts media access to his person and vets questions so that he would never have to answer for his ruinous decisions.

Obama ignored McCain because the accusation was muck-raking and irrelevant. Besides, why should Obama agree to a meeting where crowds ignorantly call him names?

  • Lady Love said:

The same reason McCain/Palin don’t answer more important questions than that…and maybe he was lying, or maybe he wasn’t. My question to you is, who doesn’t lie?? Bush sure does.

  • namsaev said:

He couldn’t have stood up to the scrutiny. Here’s a recent post from the WSJ about his 95% get a tax cut.

I’m not saying McCain is the messiah like the Democrats are about Obama. It’s just I can find less holes in his proposals.

  • KJ said:

Yeah, probably so. I was amazed to actually see Obama speechless! It was great. I wish everyone would quit defending his associations and making excuses for his actions. If everyone found out that he used to hang out in hell at Satan’s house, Dems would say that he didn’t realize it was hell, because Chicago gets hot so he was probably used to it.

only the most hardened obama fans find it hard to admit that he is a down and out liar

he has lied lied lied throughout the whole campaign

he is an accomplished speaker of other peoples words

he is a stammerer when speaking off the cuff

i am surprised he didn’t have a learned response to these allegations he surely must know that if he lies convincingly enough his fans will believe his every word

why put doubt in the minds of the undecided? unless of course even he couldn’t lie about being such a liar

  • bloodbath said:

    Obama did the right thing.
I see you took your cue from McPoopypant’s lame reasoning

  • KIZIAH said:

When Obama agreed to public financing early on in the campaign he had no idea that his grass roots supporters would be so generous. So he changed his mind. You can bet that McCain would have done the same thing IF he had had the same kind of support.

And why should Obama want to tie himself to McCain with his hokey town hall meetings in high school gyms when he can fill a football stadium? I don’t think so.

Obama is going to win. You may as well start practice saying “President Obama”!

  • darkdiva said:

I disagree with you about failure to respond. It’s just that Obama does not get excited and grumpy. It has been proved that those attacks are not helpful and the only people who want to hear them are people like you–they call them the republican base–I call them the racists from the old days. When McCain attacks Obama, he’s preaching to the choir. He needs to appeal to the undecided, which are going for Obama’s message and demeanor. There is a desperation among McCain supporters because of the polling numbers, but don’t despair the only real numbers that count are the votes.

  • testpattern(raster effect) said:

You seem like an intelligent man Paul, and I am really surprised you don’t already know this.

Obama said he would do the public funding IF McCain was doing it, and McCain tried to back out of public funding by claiming it was just security for a loan.. This is expressly mentioned in the act as being the same as using the funds directly.

So McCain not only lied about using public funds but was in clear violation of the law when he did it.
McCain also exceeded the funding limits, but Bush has refused to appoint replacements to the election funding committee, so they could not form a quorum and make a decision on whether McCain should have been charged or not.

About the town hall meetings, well those are not really debate venues, now are they.

Could you be a little more vague. Personally I am sick of the accusations of Mcsame and the lack of presentation of his agenda. The race is suppose to be about the issues and not negative campaign tactics. I think Mcsame is showing his desperation every day he loses points in the polls. Obama shouldn’t have to answer to the negative campaigning, although he does. Obama has debated Mcsame with much satisfaction in my book, besides any further debates would only hurt Mcsame.

I’m responding as a voter who will not be voting for either McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden. Both tickets have run smear campaigns, and, therefore, neither deserve my vote.

As I read questions such as yours–posted by obviously biased McCain or Obama supporters–I wonder how any intelligent human being can obsess about fraudulent statements made by the candidate they oppose and then ignore the same behavior in the candidate they support.

Having said that, I agree with you that Obama broke his pledge about accepting only public funding for his campaign. But both camps break promises; they lie, bend the truth, and distort facts. A large part of their staffs are made up of image consultants. Wasn’t it McCain who said he was going to discontinue his campaign until after the financial crisis was resolved? Did he follow through with that promise?

To finally answer your question: Yes, Obama is a bald-faced liar. But so are Biden, McCain, Palin, and every other politician in this country. Some are just better than others at looking the American public in the face and lying through their teeth.

  • bostonianinmo said:

He agreed to it initially. McCain used the public funds agreement to secure loans and then tried to opt out, at which point Obama declared that McCain’s actions voided the agreement.

Obama saw no need to publicly slap McCain down any further so he ignored it at the debate.
